S60 video
Volvo wanted their all-new S60 model to be the beginning of a sea-change in perception for the company. They billed the S60 as the most driver-oriented Volvo yet, so our first challenge was to find a driver. Samuel Hubinette was the perfect man for the job, being Swedish, and an ex-Volvo test-driver. Plus he had that slight air of the rebel that Volvo was looking for, having left Sweden to pursue his dream of becoming a champion in drifting, something that requires courage and control in equal measure.
We let him loose on California's El Mirage salt flats and he did what he does best, drifting the car sideways at high speed. Once Volvo had finished getting the desert sand out of the engine bay of their only prototype model, they were delighted with the results!.
